A collection of food concepts
Chef Lucas Manteca of Argentina and artist/designer Deanna Ebner of Avalon, NJ are the powerhouse couple behind the Bread and Butter Restaurant Group. Their passion for surfing, cooking, and nurturing the creative types around them has led them to own and operate the best restaurants in South Jersey. After meeting in Costa Rica and living in Miami and New York City, their travels brought them back to the Jersey Shore in 2005, where they opened the since-closed Avalon staple, Sea Salt.
While living and working at the shore, they noticed a need for the types of foods they wanted to eat, and thus the idea for Quahog’s Seafood Shack was born. Quahog’s was founded in 2008 as a seafood shack that blended coastal flavors from Central America and New England.
After a stint at nearby Cape Resorts, Manteca and Ebner opened The Red Store in Cape May Point in 2012. The Red Store is a general store, coffee shop, and friendly brunch joint by day, and a casual fine dining experience by night. Manteca was nominated for the prestigious James Beard Award in 2014 for Best Chef in the mid-Atlantic region.
In 2016 the couple opened their bakery, The Little Store, which bakes all the fresh breads
and pastries for their restaurants and patrons, and serves up fresh pressed juices and sandwiches.
The Taco Shop, started in 2008 as an extension of Quahog’s Seafood Shack, and now there is a second location open at the Cape May Airport. Offering authentic Mexican take out cuisine, the Taco Shop is a healthier alternative to fast food.
The Bread and Butter Restaurant Group is always growing in order to fill the needs and stomachs of the surrounding South Jersey area and beyond.
